RENEE LESHNER

Renee Leshner lives alone, has no phone and rarely leaves her North Philadelphia apartment. As a young woman, she had visions of an “evil eye” following and threatening her. Her artwork became her refuge, expressing her supernatural visions.
Ms. Leshner continued making drawings in this same style for 30 or 40 years, usually using ball-point markers. A few years ago, she gave some drawings to her landlord who submitted Leshner’s art to Coalition Ingénu. Ms. Leshner has exhibited with Coalition Ingénu regularly since then, but she remains isolated and does not participate in group activities.
