HAI Announces Juried Art Exhibition

In January 2005, HAI will be mounting a juried exhibit that will feature artists living with mental illness from around the US. The exhibit will be timed to coincide with the Outsider Art Fair held annually at the Puck Building in SoHo. The Fair draws collectors and experts from around the world. Since participation at the Fair requires an affiliation with a commercial gallery, many mentally ill artists are unable to show their work at this seminal annual event. HAI is in a unique position to assist lesser known artists by providing exposure for contemporary mentally ill artists who might not be able to be at the Fair. HAI is excited to begin this new venture and anticipates that some interesting new Outsider Artists may be discovered through this exhibit.

Application forms will be available around July 1. Call 212-575-7696 or email to outsider@hospaud.org to request an application.

Selected artwork will be featured in an exhibit that will tour the US. This contest is open to artists age 16 - 25 living in the US who have a physical, cognitive, or mental disability.
