Through
participation in HAI Arts Residencies, students build skills
in the Visual Arts, Movement, Theater, Music and Media Arts,
everything from printmaking, murals, and collage to animation,
circus arts and capoeira. The Arts Residencies integrate
the arts with academic subjects, such as social studies,
science, math, and language arts, providing continuity across
the curriculum. We target the age, skill level and ability
of the students to enable their growth in the arts. Residencies
culminate in a shared performance or exhibition. HAI Teaching
Artists address the 5 strands identified in The Blueprint
for Teaching and Learning in the Arts, providing a complete
art education experience. Our residencies are for all ages
and grade levels, schools in all boroughs, and all are customized
to meet the needs of the school and its students. HAI teaching
artist have experience with special education classes.
